Young Photographer

Photography has one definition. That definition is: a picture taken. To other people, photography has a different definition. That's my definition, my opinion. Everyone has the opinion of photography. Whether it's art or just some more technology. My opinion on that is that it is a a classic art that will never go away. We will leave are opinions behind as we go through photography looking through 15 years eyes.

Hello, I'm Michael. Photography is a very big part of my life. My photography has it's ups and downs. When I say “ ups and downs”, I mean whether it's good or not, or at least good in my opinion. Photography is like an essay. While you look at it, it has a beginning, middle, and end. When you first look at a picture, you look for the main object. Then your eyes wonder off the main object into the surrounding areas of the main object. Then finally for have a over all thought of the picture. See, a beginning, middle, and end. Your thought about that picture usually determines whether you are going to look at the rest from the photographer or not. When a photographer takes a picture he doesn't realize he tells a short story every time. It's like the old saying “a picture is worth a thousand words”. Well it's 100% true. Every pixel of a picture tells a story. All you have to do as the viewer is find and figure out the story. When you do figure it out. It makes the whole picture better. We will talk about all this, Looking for the story, taking pictures, and of course how to criticize a picture correctly.

First off. When you look at a picture, you see either color, black and white, or sepia. Every type of color preference adds to the true meaning of a picture. Like if I took a black and white picture of two people kissing, The black and white would just add on to the romanticism of the picture it self. If a took a picture of a bright yellow flower in color, it would show the beauty of the precious color of the yellow flower. If I took a picture of a girl sitting in a bus seat and I took the picture in the sepia mode, It would hive a sense of peace and wondering, where the viewer almost wants to know what the girl is thinking or at least your curious about the picture.

See pictures give you feelings. Whether it's good or bad. Pictures can be inspirational, or they could make a statement. There is unlimited possibilities when it comes to pictures and photography. That's why people like it so much. Because you can express your self with a click of a button. This whole article is about a 15 years old point of view about photography. Everyone has a different mind set about photography and art as a whole. So photography only has a definition when a person gives it one. I hope you enjoyed this short article. Have a great day\night\morning\ect...

I disagree with you on a few things. To start, I don't believe photography has one definition. Photography is an art form, a way of expression emotion, or capturing a moment in time through a camera lens. It is viewing life all different perspectives. A photo is not just a photo, it is art, and often has a great story behind it. Something that would portrait the photographer, their thoughts, actions, feelings or opinions.

Secondly, I don't believe a viewer is to find the story in the photo. The story can be different for each and every viewer. Viewing a photo can spark a million different thoughts from the collective memory of the brain, and will give them various feelings about something. A photograph is different to each individual, and can mean something completely different to everybody.

Also, I don't believe a photo being Black & White processed, or a Sepia tone has anything to do with the meaning of a picture. These are simply visual edits, that either add drama, or create emotion in an image by playing with the tones. People often shoot in B&W when they want the viewer to look deeper into the image, and less as the actual colors.

You are right on some aspects, but I feel you are far off on others. If you were to show this to a professional, I'm sure he would disagree with you on a lot. It is not just a THING, which is what you make it sound like. It is a passion, a love, a lifestyle.

@ spencer - I see where your coming from...As I stated this is my "opinion" on photography. But I do see where your coming from as I don't just do photography. I'm also a artist. I do all types of art medium. Thanks for you reply.
