This article and video was originally posted at http://www.jakeculpmedia.com/the-blog/2010/9/2/my-google-search-story.html

Finally, I made my Google search story. The video is basically focused around social media and me myself using social media. If you want to make your own Google search story, please go here http://www.youtube.com/searchstories.

Some nice customizable features that come with Google search stories include: Choosing up to 7 searches for the video, choosing your own sound track, and being able to upload it straight to Youtube without having to download it.

Google Buys Shopping Search Engine Like.com

Disclaimer: This article was originally posted on my blog which can be found at tommaxwellblog.com

Google has officially acquired visual search and price comparison engine Like.com, according to an open letter that was posted on Like.com's website.

“Since 2006, Like.com has been moving the frontiers of eCommerce forward one step at a time,” said Munjal Shah, the company’s CEO. “We were the first to bring visual search to shopping, the first to build an automated cross-matching system for clothing, and more. We didn’t stop there, and we don’t have plans to stop now. We see joining Google as a way to supersize our vision and supercharge our passion.”

Like.com launched in 2006 from the remains of Riya, a facial recognition search engine. The technology from that company was used after it closed to start Like.com's visual shopping comparison engine.

Recently, Google has been testing out visual search and image recognition started with the "Similar Images" feature in 2009. The similar images feature uses image recognition technology to filter image results by similarity. It seems with this purchase that Google wants to go even farther with this technology.

Android App Review: Google Goggles

Google Goggles is one of the most fun apps to play around with in the Android Marketplace. You can take pictures of labels, logos, barcodes, book covers, landmarks, etc. This app can come in handy frequently and that is why I give it a solid 9/10, especially because it is free, so there is not much to complain about! If you have an Android phone (it is coming to the iPhone shortly), I highly suggest downloading this app.

The New Apple?

Apple has always been determined to make computers for the average person, but, as the average person has changed since the Mac, and even since the iPhone, so has Apple.

Before 1984, the average person was baffled by computers. They were only really used by people who were proficient at the least, and were only in institutions. Apple aimed to change that with their GUI.

Before 2007 cell phones were crap. None of them did everything you wanted. They were either easy to use, with little functionality, or hard to use, with tons of features. The iPhone changed that.

But now, the average user is a little more computer savvy. They understand the concept of mobile multitasking, the concept of apps running simultaneously, and, in general, people understand more about technology than they did even just 3 years ago. PCs have always been about features, Macs, and all Apple products, have been about ease of use. But As people change, Apple changes too. They have been...
