New Facebook Features

UPDATE: The updates (for me any way) have now seemed to disappeared. This happened one time before when several updates where pushed at once and then returned back to normal (with the no buttoned comments and photo viewer), However I have seen no other publicity from this. I keep regularly checking the official Facebook fanpage but nothing has come to light so far. Once again let us know if you have seen any other news about this. Thanks!

Have you seen that new bar on the top right? Logging into Facebook this morning showed the new real time updates from all of our friends on Facebook, as well as the real-time updates.

Facebook seems to have added some other nice little features, which really are making Facebook that much more enjoyable and easier to be more social, such as the birthdays feature. Clicking on each individual name to write happy birthday, hope you've had a good day, etc. was a pain if you had a lot of birthdays on the same day. Now you click on everyone's birthday and you can write on everyone's wall from the same page.

They have also changed the top navigational bar. There's now no border around the edge; it's the same blue throughout and the numbers where it shows how many notifications, messages and friend/family requests have been moved down, so there is more space (personally I prefer the older version).

What do you think? Are the real-time updates a stalker's paradise? Does it make you want to have Facebook open more often and to see what exactly your friends are doing without having to click on each individual page? Let us know in the comments.

How do you get your motivation?

I was originally going to e-mail this question to David, but I thought why not ask everyone? I'm currently a freelancer web designer, programmer and overall computer fanatic. I have around three clients and I'm getting bored with what I'm doing, losing motivation.

What can I do to gain motivation and to look at web designing and everything else as I used to? Let me know in the comments below!

.CO Domains

Were you aware of the new .co extension? According to GoDaddy the .co could be the next major domain extension just like .com. The landrush began on the June 21st and will continue until June 10th, although you could be paying roughly 10 times more than if you waited for the standard pre-registration, which will of course be after June 10th.

If multiple people pre-order the same .co domain, then it will be taken to auction, so if you have a business or a trademark, I recommend you start ordering!

This also could be a goldmine if you created a good name, but that's only if GoDaddy's prediction is true. I will keep you updated of any news.

(Update: e.co domain sold for $81,000 to B52 Media. Yikes!)

Microsoft releases official Windows Live Messenger app for iPod touch & iPhone

The Official WLM App now available in the Apple Store

If you have checked the App Store today you will have noticed Microsoft have entered with their official Windows Live Messenger application. There have been several unofficial applications such as eBuddy and Pidgin, to name a couple.

But will this really become a successful application? What's the point when you have all these others which can handle multiple Facebook, AIM and MSN accounts - all at the same time?

What do you think about the official application? Let me know in the comments.

What happened to Bebo?

Currently I live in West London - I am 14 years old and I do keep up with the current trends. In Year 7 the prime website to be on was Bebo, I mean you could customize your own skin, add photos and tag them, draw pictures on your friends wall, and give them love! But what happened - why is AOL who brought the company on March 13, 2008 for a costly $850 million saying that it was not worth the investment, they also said that they are planning to sell or take the site down as soon as May 2010.

I can tell you why: the interface. The interface that Bebo had was very crowded and didn't look very smart and elegant at all - as we grew up from year to year we matured in our tastes and got bored of the layout very quickly.

But indeed, as you should have already guessed; the overall answer to this question is Facebook. As I said everyone's tastes matured so we wanted something new, at the time Facebook was going mainstream and was very simple to use. As we grew older all of the new Year 7's to the school saw what everybody was using, and skipped the "Bebo" stage.

I hope this story was informative to you, as you can see I am a new writer here at SocialBlog and I am looking forward to staying here and being a writer. Thank you for reading!
