I am a sucker for simple little app games. I find that the more focused it is on gameplay rather than graphics, the more addictive it is. Sure, these games aren't the super challenging, mini versions of console or PC games we have come to expect with the newer versions of apple devices. But they have their own charm, just like flash games, and I love to waste as much time as possible playing them.
Upper Up is a great example of that kind of game.
I am not sure if you have ever heard of Ziv Zav. It was a fun board game that came out in 1985, which required you to move balls into certain slots to form a specific pattern. If you have played it, you know how addictive it can be. Now, it has been converted to an even more addictive form: a great puzzle app that you can download for just $0.99 on iTunes.
When I first got this game, it was for my kids. They ended up really liking it, but I didn't know anything about it. Until one day I was sitting at the pharmacy waiting for a prescription to be filled, and I needed something to pass the time. I ended up switching it on, and within minutes I was hooked. I almost didn't hear them call my name at the counter.

I have passed a lot of time in waiting rooms or on breaks playing these.
But Atlantic Breaker HD is now my favorite, because it offers a little twist on the classic format.
