My Initial Thoughts When I Heard About Photoshop Touch

By now some of you should have heard about Adobe announcing it's new software for Touch-enabled devices named "Adobe Photoshop Touch." If you haven't heard about it, then I'll direct you to the Photoshop Blog and YouTube video whichs explains in detail some features and how it works.

When I first saw it, I thought no way could Photoshop every work on a Touch device. You need precise control, Multi-touch gestures can only do so much. But then after seeing the video, it can be done, with the engineering they have at Adobe to make this work. Russell Brown shows how he is able to work on a image for a project going through the menu system, navigation, and how you can get images. You'll notice as you watch the video is that he is using a kind of pointer-like object for some better control on pointing on objects. That is understandable since you need precise control for pretty much any software made by Adobe. They require a level of finese that our stubby fingers just can't do.

As for how I think it will change how graphic designers and other creative professionals work, it will make them more efficient in the long run. Imagine, you are holding an iPad, with Adobe Photoshop Touch, and you are at lunch, or sitting at home watching T.V. and you just feel like creating something. Maybe you saw something, or felt bored and started doodling. You can work on it and then save it. When you get to your computer with Photoshop CS5 on it, you can continue working on that same idea or image you were working on earlier. I think it will enhance workflows but that is just me. I would love to hear some opinions below in the comments.

John Nack, Adobe's Principal Product Manager, said that it will be coming out for Android tablets first before it comes to iOS tablets like the iPad. Take that anyway you want iPad owners.

Also, before I forget to mention, Adobe MAX is happening this week. I kicked off with a keynote from Adobe CTO Kevin Lynch.

My First Look at Adobe Enterprise Cafe

I was researching new web development ideas about some stuff, so I was just wandering around the Adobe website and found myself reading more about Adobe LiveCycle Enterprise Server. From their site I saw a widget for Adobe's Enterprise Cafe, a technology that connects developers and enterprise experts with news, articles, and videos on AdobeTV through this widget-like piece of software.

I've only had a few days checking it out, but from what I have seen I can read about news from great Adobe technologies and news in the development community.

I also love the feature where they have intergrated AdobeTV so that I can watch many great tutorials, product demos, and learning about how to make your workflow better.

Keep in mind, this is for developers and enterprise experts. You won't find many features designed for normal computer users, but if you're into development especially on an enterprise level and you need to keep up with the latest news, advancements, and technology, this is something to consider and check out. I will continue to play with this and tell you what I think in a later post.

For a visual demo of this software be sure to check out https://my.adobeconnect.com/_a295153/EnterpriseCafe/ (note: Acrobat Connect is required- FREE trial)

It is sure a nice piece of developer technology and something I hope will lend itself to great strides when Adobe Flash is one day fully implemented into every tablet into the market. And yes, I also am referring to the iPad.

Here is the widget to download the software. I look forward to reading what people have found about it that I might also be interested in using it for development.

Who knows this may end up as a training course on Lynda.com?

Robert Scoble Interview - Rescheduled

Due to some technical difficulties with my own hardware I was using and the fact that Skype just had to be updated; my interview with Robert Scoble did not happen today as promised. You my recall from my earlier post, that I said I would be doing a live streaming Skype interview with Robert Scoble to discuss all kinds of topics. Unfortunately, I was not able to do that because my camera for whatever reason decided it would not let Skype use it's video feed. My camera I was planning on using was my Playstation EYE camera for my PS3 system. Why you ask? It was the only one I had at the time. Anyway, I did buy a really nice and professional looking microphone from the Apple online store. It's a Yeti by Blue Microphones.

I did however try and reschedule with hiim using a service called Tungle.me. He uses it and I decided to create an account just to make sure I can get through, too.

Anyway, to wrap this up, if anyone has any suggestions on how I can make an interview over Skype work better, please let me know. I will consider getting rid of the Sony device I mentioned and get a real piece of equiment instead of a stupid little toy. Thank you for reading and hope to be back.

UPDATE: I have just deleted the URL; http://www.ustream.tv/channel/talking-with-scobleizer. The reason for this is because I feel it is best for me to start over again and work on getting things done right and take my time on producing a show. So if you go to the URL, it won't work anymore. I deleted the show. I'll post something here when I have something to report.
