From YouTube to a $30 million Hollywood Contract

A YouTuber from Uruguay produced and made his own short film and posted it onto YouTube so far it has recived over 1.5 million views. The film was made on a low budget but despite that the film looks amazing. Mr Alvarez ( The Creator) looked in his YouTube inbox and found many Hollywood Studios looking for his film making talent. One studio offered him a $30 million contract to produce a sci-fi film. He says that he will start from scratch and develop this project and make it as good as he can make it. The new film will be set in Uruguay and Argentina.

I think these types of dicoveries are a tribute to the power of the web and an indication, at least in small part, of the death of the "traditional" forms of talent scouting. Rock on Mr. Alvarez.
