Netbook or Notebook?

In the technology world today, you notice new technology hitting the market in skyrocketing amounts. But today, in laptops, there's a question that many want answered; notebook or netbook? Let me start off by saying that if you really want power, go for a notebook but if you’re more into business and need portability, go netbook.

You can’t really get lots of power out of a single netbook but you can get some work done in programs like Excel, Powerpoint or Word for example. If you’re planning on gaming with COD 6 on a netbook, don’t even try because it won’t even attempt to run. Netbooks are not only for mainly business work but are also much cheaper than the standard 15.4” laptops. This makes working through a corporate or home business a breeze in both portability and price.

The question still remains; which one should you get. Well, for some, you just go with what you really want, either price or specifications. Depending on what you’re going to be doing, you might be better off going with a notebook because it can handle more highly intensive applications at a greater speed. If you’re willing to get a price, get a notebook, I have one and I’m typing this blog post on one and believe me, getting a notebook, not a netbook will give you the comfort, screen size and speed that you truly need in portable computing.

I currently use a notebook and a desktop and I personally, recommend using a notebook over a netbook for home/travel use :) Unless you want to use an Intel Atom over a Core 2 Duo, go for a netbook but for now, notebooks are still hitting the market in large amounts of sales, even with netbooks just starting to be sold by newer manufactures.

Well, its not exactly how you said it. Nowadays, there exists platform Nvidia ION, which provides full HD video and capability to play games even on netbook.

Ofcourse, when you have netbook with slow processor like Atom, its not much "gaming device" but still you can play some on the go :)

I personally have notebook, thinking about netbook, because I am on the go a lot.

Best value added of netbook IMHO is its size and weight. You have small and light device which is still capable to do a lot of work

(Yay! Comment longer than article :) )

I've been asking guys at work that are buying machines a key question. How important is it for you or the person receiving the computer to ALWAYS have a CD/DVD drive. This appears to be a bigger deciding factor than size for most people. Netbooks, I say are great for travel.

My last flight I used an Acer Aspire One. It worked fine. However this next flight I will be using my 13" Macbook Pro. Because I want a little more flexibility on my driving portion of my trip. Well, for when I stop! No electronics whilst driving!

I had a netbok for a long time (acer aspire one.. had the 2nd one in canada... long story) but i ended up being disappointed in it. So personally I like my notebook, because it has a large enough screen and enough power to do what i want. But also the portability of the netbook is great for travelling. So basically its just a weighing between power and portability, so i settled on a 13 inch macbook pro which is far more portable than my 16inch laptop, and more powerful than my 8.9inch netbook.
