Super Monkey Ball 2 Review
Super Monkey Ball is by far my favorite game for the iPhone. I beat the original Super Monkey Ball last year. This year when I heard Super Monkey Ball 2 was out, I just had to purchase it and give it a shot.
The objective of this game is to guide a monkey character in a transparent ball across a suspended series of platforms and through a goal. In this version of the game, you guide the monkey by tilting your iPhone.
My first impressions when I started playing this game was the improved graphics. The game looks more modern and the graphics look a lot better compared to the first Super Monkey Ball. The stages are more different with new added features. The stages also appear to be more challenging which got frustrating now and then, but I was able to control the game very smooth after many hours of playing and getting used to it.
Sega knew many people were frustrated when playing the first Super Monkey Ball, so with the second game they added a tilt meter to help you navigate smoothly. The tilt meter which is located in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen lets you know how to stop at the correct angle and how to accelerate appropriately. Sega also provided tutorials when you first begin playing.
One unique feature that I like about this game is the instant replays. Every time you hit a goal, an instant replay pops-up and if you really like how the gameplay of the stage turned out, you have the option to save the clip. Unfortunately you can only save up to 10 replays which I think is not that many, but it's better than not having this feature at all.
There's also mini separate games you can play. There's a total of three mini games, one is a nice efficient bowling game and the other two mini games are still in development which I'm sure they'll be available in a future update.
I beat this game in about a week, and over all I think this is an excellent game. If you enjoyed the original Super Monkey Ball on your iPhone, then you'll definitely love this one.
Super Monkey Ball 2 is now available on the App Store for the iPhone and iPod Touch for $7.99 and can be purchased here.
