YouTube: Powered by Google. What's next?
As seen on DannyMinick.com
Last week, YouTube did a mediocre facelift on their site, by adding a few more tabs, rearranging some links, etc. Their main focus these days seems to be showing the most popular “YouTubers” and burying the independent users, like myself. Sure, I don’t use a voice manipulation, or make up a fake story full of soap opera drama. No, instead I make real videos about real products that real people buy. Yet I am buried in the corner, unseen by most, but host to a select few.
What is YouTube doing? Competing with Hulu. Hulu is a website where you can watch full-length television shows at no charge. Apparently this was a threat to YouTube. No longer are they a video service for independent amateurs. They now show full-length shows as well.
I think the blame is not so much as YouTube as it is on Google itself. Google is growing at a rapid rate and from the looks of it, has no chance of stop soon. I mean they even have a cell phone now. What’s next? TVs? Video game consoles? OPERATING SYSTEMS?
Google’s goal is to be number one. To be it. The thing that everyone goes to for anything. They were once just a search engine. Now they are an empire. Hell, rumor has it they are interested in buying Twitter.
