Apple Netbook T.K.O.

Yes, it has been officially confirmed by Apple COO Tim Cook that there will not be a netbook coming from Apple. In review of Apple's Q2 results, Cook referred to netbooks as having "cramped keyboards, terrible software, junky hardware, and very small screens." Cook also added that it's "not something we want to put the Mac brand on." Translation: Acer, HP, Asus, MSI, and all the rest of 'em are all wrong. We think the playing field is open enough so that we can come up with a netbook when we see the need. Period.

Now, Apple has no need to jump in the netbook market anyway, in my opinion. After all, they have the MacBook Air! That said, the netbook price-point is between $300 and $600. If Apple gets the price down that low to match the Mac Mini, there'll be no stopping them (or switchers).
