One Way To Speed Up Your Mac

If your Mac isn't the speed demon that it used to be, and if you like me and turn off your computer at night, you may want to consider leaving it on. Now leaving your computer on the whole night isn't going to help fight global warming, but if just want it to be fast, then listen to this. Since Macs are based off of UNIX have special scripts that are set to run at 3:15 am every day, weekly at 4:30 am on Saturdays, and on the first day of every month at 5:30 am. But if your computer is off at these times, then the scripts will have to run the next time you turn on your computer. This may not seem like it will effect the speed, since the scripts just run the next time your Mac is on, but over time system-clogging clutter will build up in your temporary directories and won't let your Mac perform the way it should.

When I found this out I doubted it at first, but then I noticed that my MacBook always runs faster whenever l leave it on over night. Now this may seem kind of silly to leave your computer on for around 10 extra hours, when you won't even be using it, but if you really want your Mac to run as fast as it can, then this is one way that can actually make it quite a bit faster.

My MacBook actually runs a lot slower when it's on for more than a day. I used to keep it on over night, but it runs faster for me if I turn it off every night.
