Apple working on software fix for MacBook Pro Hard Drives
Owners of a MacBook Pro with a 7200 rpm 500GB hard drive have been complaining about a clicking noise from inside the computer followed by temporary stalling. Apple is aware of the issue and they said they are working on a software fix but no release date has been mentioned.
People have been reporting that they hear a beeping noise right before the clicking. Then the computer becomes unresponsive for about 10 seconds before it go's back to normal. This issue doesn't cause people to lose unsaved work or have to reboot but it can be very disruptive during long tasks. This issue only affects the 500GB 7200 RPM hard drive available for the MacBook Pro.

I have had this problem with my new MacBook pro!
OH MY GOD....I bought the new late july macbook with the 7200rpm HDD and it did the click+beep thing. I returned it to Apple and they sent me a brand new one...still does the same thing....so im just waiting...
Many people where complaining about the idle-clicks of their HDD's in their MacBook (Pro's) - for years.
i have a similar problem with my 320GB HDD July MacBook Pro, when ever i knock the desk that the mac is sitting sometimes the hdd will slip and make funny noise (dont know if this has something to do with shock resistance), freezes for 5-10 seconds, then back to normal, nothing too disrupting!
I hear you guys! My friend just got the MacBook Pro and 2 days after the unboxing it started clicking. I use an aluminum MacBook and have never had this problem so I hope they release it soon for you guys!
