MacBook Pro, overheat?
I know that the previous model's of the MacBook Pro (and I mean BEFORE the unibody one) used to overheat and get hot enough to cook an egg! I own a 13" MacBook Pro that I got around 2 months ago. Before I got it, I used to read reviews and view videos on YouTube saying that the new one does not overheat, and not to worry. Well after about 2 months of use, it's starting to get really hot.
Using the Application iStat, it tells me my MacBook gets very hot. The hottest I've ever seen was 162 degrees (farenheit) and it was burning my leg! Currently, after just an hour and a half of use, it's 131 degrees. Is this normal, or should I be concerned? My old HP overheated, and I had to replace the hard drive, therefore Im not sure what the case may be with this computer.
Let me know in the comments below what you think, and whether or not this happens to you.

The same thing happened to me with my uni-body macbook. I recommend using smcFanControl, this app is free and will show you how hot your computer is running and also allow you to control your fan speeds.
Don't worry, they just run hot. It's not pleasant, but it won't hurt your computer. I regularly get about 130-140 in regular use.
Don't worry! Most computers run hot, and usually there are not many ways to avoid it. But your computer can become damaged overtime by heat damage, and it can cause any number of your components to fail! My suggestion, if you would like to prolong the life of your new computer as much as possible, is to download smcFanControl. It displays the temp, and you can control the speed of your fan to bring the temp down. The lower the better, but not freezing cold, as that can damage your computer to. try to keep it below 140. :)
Thanks for the advice! Im going to try smcfancontrol and my best guess is that the temperature will go down.
noo macs get that way
my brother has a macbook pro g4
and he cant even have skin contact because it gets too hot!
but he has never had problems..Its just because theres a small vent and the fan isnt really directly blowing it out
its just hot air finding a way out..
Yup...... my macbook pro 13 inch is burning up only when I play GTA San Andreas.
