Rant on the Mighty Mouse

Hi,

I have been using a Mac for around 9 months now and have loved and still loving the experience. Now, being an Apple fan, you would think that I love anything that Apple develops. Well, sort of. The release date of the current version of the Mighty Mouse was August 7, 2007 which means that Apple really needs to update it. Why? Well here is why:

If you have a Mighty Mouse, you will know that it is a little smaller than your hand, giving you that nice grip when you hold it. This can turn into a problem as your hands start to drag on the table which becomes a hassle. Another problem with the design is that if you tend to use the Mighty Mouse all the time, you will know that it becomes very dirty as the sweat from your hand dries up, giving you a black substance. It is easy to get off but takes up your time as this occurs very frequently. Most of the time, this occurs only when the object is white and has a glossy effect (e.g the Mighty Mouse and the Wii Remote/Nunchuck).

The main problem that I always have is the scroll ball. It (if I say so myself) stinks! The ball gets jammed nearly every hour. Because once again, both the dry sweat from your hands and the dirt from nails gets jammed in between the crack and the scroll ball, making it nearly impossible to scroll through pages. Luckily, I have the Apple way to fix it. But still, it is a bother.

So I hope Apple will be able to fix the Mighty Mouse because it is becoming a major problem.

Cheers,

I've been using a (wireless) Mighty Mouse for over a year and have had no problems with it. The scroll ball never gets jammed. (A scroll ball is so much better than a wheel) It's never become discolored. And the size of it is specific to whoever is using it, for me, it happens to be the perfect size.

Although it came out over two years ago, I don't see any reason it should be updated.

Mr. Clean - it even happens with clean hands. This happens over time from repeated use.
