iTunes 9: My Predictions

iTunes has become a part of my life really. No joke at all. I use iTunes almost everyday to sync apps, music, videos and podcasts to my iPods. Since I have four iPods, iTunes is heavily used. I always have my iPod Touch Second Generation plugged in to my iMac syncing a lot of my apps. Due to my constant syncing, my applications can get jumbled all over and messed up. This is where the topic of this post comes to play. iTunes 8, the current version of the iPod library, hasn't been updated in awhile and with the Apple iPod event coming up.... it is time for iTunes 9! In Apple world: rumors come true most of the time. For example, iPhone 3Gs, Snow Leopard early launch and quite possibly iPod Touch 3G or Mac Tablet.

What could be in iTunes 9?

  • Blu-ray support on Macs using iTunes 9
  • Beatles iTunes music tracks
  • App Management for iPod Touch and iPhone
  • New interface with customizable themes
  • Bug fixes (Of course)
  • Music info booklet with albums purchased from the iTunes store
  • Numerous graphic enhancements
  • And Twitter, Facebook and Flickr support.

Blu-ray is a little far fetched, but could eventually grow. Beatles in iTunes, why are we still waiting? I have been a fan of The Beatles since I heard "Strawberry Fields Forever", and when I looked in iTunes for tracks; they weren't there. This should come to iTunes 9. App management is going to help all of us iPhone and iPod Touch users arranged our many applications using iTunes, instead of our "iDevice". I really hope Apple includes this. The interface might become more user friendly and have themes. A music info booklet bundled with major albums in the iTunes store that could feature HD images and more. One other thing that may be in iTunes 9, could be Facebook, Twitter and Flickr integration. As well as the interface will be Snow Leopard friendly.

Overall, if any of my predictions are true (which I hope), then iTunes 9 should be even better than iTunes 8! Thanks for reading.

Facebook, Twitter and Flickr integration isn't a bad idea, but how would that work with iTunes..?
Putting a post on Facebook or Twitter about a new song..? It seems a little far fetched.
Blu-Ray has been talked about and sounds to be a large possibility.

Hmm good point, I would assume maybe some type of add on that allows you to view Twitter, Facebook and Flickr feeds and send audio updates.

Hmm. I just can't see facebook integration. Beatles would be lovely to have and as I recall it was a pretty long time between iTunes 7 and iTunes 8. But this is apple. who knows.

Adding Beatles music to iTunes isn't up to Apple it weather the company that own's the right to the Beatles music wants to or not. However seeing as all the Remastered Beatles albums are being released on September 9th, the same day Apple is holding their event, I expect Beatles music will be added to iTunes the same day. If fact that is probably why Apple is hold their event on the 9th, seeing as it's a Wednesday and the iPod events are usually on a tuesday.

I think there will be HD content formatted for the iPhone. I think that time is coming.
