iPhone Restaurant Culture
It's no surprise that working in a busy restaurant you meet lots of people. More and more often you can spot the iPhone users showing off their beloved phones by placing it on the table for passers by to admire! From this increasing number of iPhone users visiting restaurants I have come up with a variety of situations I often see iPhone users in and the types of people using them. Enjoy!
The Loud Mouth
This is the iPhone user who speaks particularly loud on the phone and will stand up half way through a meal to accept a call, just to impress fellow onlookers with their flashy device!
The Awkward 1st Date
We get quite a few couples in the restaurant, and you know when a first date is going bad if one of the tables occupants whips out their phone and starts playing Bejewelled while waiting for their meals! Dessert never follows this and the couple depart quickly in separate directions!
The Awkward Marriage
Similar to the first date, however this couple is stuck together and after 20 years of marriage are bored of each others company and resort to passing the time with a well chosen game such as "Wife iRemote".
The Business Man
Those early morning business men who come in for a takeaway will quite happily tap away at their phones, send some e-mails while they wait for their coffee. Or, if they chose to sit down, will place their phone clearly on the table as a mark of power and authority, clearly conveying their status! Funnily you don't see this with other phones!
Daddy's Little Girl
The iPhone was purchased by the girl's father and she destroys its unique design with a tacky glitter cover.
The Mac Genius
This iPhone user will set up a MacBook on the table with their iPhone sat neatly next to it while they immerse themselves in Apple technology and catch up on the latest Mac rumours! They won't bother with food or any meals; just a flat white and a strong internet connection will do.
The funniest iPhone experience I have had in the restaurant is when I had a table of 4 sat down, all playing on their iPhones, their meals arrived and they didn't even notice when they were placed on the table. After a good 5 to 10 minutes they began to eat and soon complained because their meals were cold!
It seems that coffee culture and iPhone usage is indeed becoming integrated together, the power of Apple never ceases to amaze.
