Unboxing of the Samson Go Microphone
I have recently been in the market for a microphone that would work well with my Macbook Pro. The internal microphone was not up to par in my opinion. I was really interested in the Samson branded microphones because I have heard many outstanding things about them. I was initially looking at the Samson C01u condenser microphone; I later changed my choice while at my local BestBuy. The C01u is around 90 USD. My local BestBuy had two Samson mics available, the Co1u and the Go Mic. I ended up going with the Go Mic because of the lower price point and its' portability. The Samson Go Mic is about the size of the classic style Apple Remote. My plan was to return the Go Mic for the Co1u if it didn't meet my needs. I have used the Go Mic for two videos, and so far the quality is killer. It is hard to beat the quality of the mic, especially because of its 59.99 USD price point. Many condenser microphones can easily be over 100 USD. The Samson Go Mic has three modes of operation:
1. Cardioid mode: This mode has a polar pattern that is mostly directly in front of the mic. This is good for voice because it only picks up sound that is in front of the mic. This mode is also great because it cuts down on most background noise.
2. Omni mode: This mode has a polar pattern that is 360 degrees. This mode picks up sound from all angles. This mode is good for recording groups but it has the tendency to pick up a considerable amount of background noise.
3. -10 db mode: This mode just lowers the sensitivity of the microphone.
Below is a video unboxing of the device. I used the Samson mic to record the unboxing commentary.
Thanks for reading and watching
