Product Review: Kontrol Freak

Kontrol Freaks are small attachments that you can put on top of you analog sticks on your gaming controller. These small attachments come with a grip similar to the ones already on the controller. The raise the level of the analog sticks by about an inch or two. To put them on you simply take them and push on them on your analog sticks they fit nicely.

These small extensions are advertised to help your performance in mainly FPS games but they come in many shapes and sizes to suit your gaming style. I love playing Call of Duty and recently I have been using these while I play Black Ops. At first, it is very difficult to get used to them because they give you a different feeling for your fingers. After a couple of matches, I finally had the hang of them. With that being said, if they are hard to transition into, they will be hard to transition back. Yes, I did try to play a game without the Kontrol Freeks and it seemed particularly impossible. It felt like a part of the analog sticks were cut off and the outcome was horrible. Until I have to, the Kontrol Freeks will stay on my controller. Another thing I noticed with them was that they leave little marks on your analog sticks. You won’t notice them until you take them off. It isn’t a big deal to me, but if you really care about your analog sticks then it is something to worry about.

Overall, Kontrol Freeks are a great extension to your analog sticks. If you do want better performance in your gaming, these are a must buy. Otherwise you are fine with the analog sticks that you already have.

Rating: 8.5/10

-          1 point for the difficulty of transitioning into them and out of them

-          ½ a point for the small marks they leave on your controller’s analog sticks
