iPad Second Generation
In April of this year, Apple broke the boundaries of modern technology by announcing the iPad. This device is a tablet computer giving users massive functionality whilst on the go in terms of photos, videos and much more. The company sold more than 3 million devices in 80 days. At the end of September this year it was noted that more than 7 million had been sold. It took competitors six months to try to level out the market, the first coming in the form of the Samsung Galaxy. Samsung's version of a tablet computer however is not even in the same league.
The bad news for competitors, Apple have started thinking about the second generation and the quicker that they get it on the market competitors will be blown out of the water. There are numerous reports popping up across the web saying that within the next 100 days, Apple are hoping to start shipping the iPad second generation. The aim is toward 400,000 - 600,000 devices, Apple are aiming to start mass production in January will shipping happening towards the end of February. There is a predicted launch date of April 2011 and there is no way competitors will be able to step up to the challenge before then.
So what is expected of the iPad second generation? There are five new features being predicted for this new device, the first obviously being the adoption of the facetime camera and facetime technology. This will allow for facetime to explode onto the scene seeing as it is now available on the iPhone 4, iPod touch 4G and new Macbook Air's. It is also expected that Apple will introduce the gyroscope technology through to the iPad that will allow for much better gaming as already seen on the iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4G. The big challenge, and one Apple always enjoy attempting is to get the device even thinner than before. The iPad is already considerably thin and this is going to be very interesting to see what they can do to make it thinner.
Apple are also expected to bring in the retina display making images and video much more crisp and vibrant. The final feature is a surprising one but has previously been hinted at. Apple are looking at bringing in a mini USB connector. It seems very interesting the changes that Apple are expected to make and we must all wonder if they will be in the iPad second generation and what else may be in the blueprint. Hopefully more news will follow, otherwise we must wait until April to find out what it will be like.
