Samsung announces first phone running Bada OS

Recently Samsung has stepped up to the plate of making their own smartphone operating system dropping Symbian OS, called Bada. Bada was announced in November 2009, and previewed in a event in December. So far no official phone was announced that runs Bada, until today at Mobile World Congress in Spain.

Today, at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain (it's like CES, but for mobile phone industry), Samsung announced its first phone running Bada, called the Samsung Wave. It has a 1GHz processor (which is presumed to be the same Snapdragon processor in the Nexus One, and HTC HD2), along with Samsung's new "Super AMOLED" screen, which is a new type of screen the provides crisp and colourful pictures. Also it has the standard set of smartphone specifications and features including 802.11N Wifi, new to the market Bluetooth 3.0, aGPS, and expandable storage via MicroSD. The Wave also packs a pretty amazing camera, a 5MP camera with LED flash, along with 720p recording and 5.1 surround sound, which sounds stunning considering it is a mobile phone. The Wave also has support for DivX, XviD, MP3 and WMV files. Samsung is also teasing its new mDNIe (mobile Digital Natural Image engine), which has been used in Samsung's LCD and LED televisions. Samsung has also introduced its new TouchWiz 3.0 interface, which as been seen on many other Samsung phones, such as the Omnia 2 and Behold 2. The Wave sounds like a very impressive phone, and will be in pockets by April, though no word on pricing yet, or if it is coming to North America with 3G.
