PSN coming to Sony Ericsson phones?
Just a few days after Microsoft revealed that Windows Phone Series’ 7 will include Xbox LIVE support integrated into the OS, Sony are also following suit by confirming that they will be integrating their PlayStation Network service into upcoming Sony Ericsson handsets later this year.
Howard Stringer (President of Sony Corporation) stated that
“We are building a new network service that will connect many more network-enabled products, including Sony Bravias, Vaios, and Blu-ray players. To satisfy the demand for more open systems, and to broaden the array of networked devices connected to our network services, we are committed to extending that service to Sony Ericsson mobile phones.”
It looks like Sony are planning on a consistent user interface across Sony and Sony Ericsson products so that users get a familiar feel and seamless experience throughout. Just like how they have moved the XMB from PSP to PlayStation 3 and even to Bravia TV’s.
Unfortunately, Sony could say much more about the matter and was unable to reveal the extent of the PSN service on Sony Ericsson phones.
So stay tuned to DigiLounge for the latest news on whether the PSN will be coming to Sony Ericsson's mobile phones!
