God of War III Review

I know it's four days early, but a good geek should always have his/her sources right? Anyway, I was lucky enough to get my hands on a copy of this long awaited title yesterday and have almost cleared it by now. So without further ado, here is my humble review of the one and only God of War III.

First of all, let me just say that I'm not a huge PS3 fan. Unless a title's an exclusive, I'd much rather own it on my 360 than PS3. However, despite everything, this game turned out to be gorgeous. Kratos, charming fella as always, makes what I see as his best appereance in the franchise so far. Hungry for revenge, he takes on each Greek god with a unique style and almost no repetition gameplay-wise. Each boss fight brings something new to the experience, and in an ingenious fashion too if I may add. I won't give any spoilers in this review, but I can tell you that fights such as the one against Hades can easily be thought of as historical in the timeline of other RPG's. The general gameplay as well is fantastic. With the two blades Kratos bears, whether they be the Blades of Exile, the Claws of Hades, or any other weapon, I personally never ran out of new moves to try out, whether they be by my own custom combos, or accquired by upgrading using experience points. The music too is extremely epic and thrilling as it keeps you awake and in the mood, as well as adds a sense of power to the game.

The Verdict:

Appearance/Graphics: Very sleek menus, beautifully designed navigation. Area graphics almost always breathtaking, yet can get a bit too average (yet still stunning) in some areas. Kratos however, remains in my opinion one of the best designed video game characters. Just wait and see... 9/10

Sound: Epic music, beautiful sound effects, yet needs to be tuned down a little in some areas... 9.5/10

Gameplay: Genius. Nothing else to say. Combat is brilliant, ideas and strategies extremely creative, and perfectly natural blending with the game itself... 10/10

My Score: 9.4/10

Fan of the series, not a fan of the series, check out this game and enjoy the genius within...

Charming Fellow this Kratos! Another tongue-in-cheek article for you my dear Diggins. I can thoroughly comprehend your anticipation nevertheless. Seldom have I such ratings used! Profane and belligerent? Possibly, but you cease not to amaze me once more. It's a fathomable misfortune that I have succumb to Microsoft gaming consoles, hence the Box of X Three Hundred and Sixty. I'll be sure to buy a Station of Playful Activity soon to play this masterpiece. I fear i must depart. Farewell my good man.
