Are Macs really overpriced?
I was thinking over the past week about PC's and macs. And I know that this subject has probably been covered many many times. But if you think about it, should apple lower the price of macs? or should macs forever be more than pcs?
Computers are like cars...
If you think about it, people always say "macs are way overpriced!! I can buy a dual pc with a bigger hard drive and more ram! for a cheaper price than a mac". How come people don't complain that BMW's, Mercedes Benz etc...are overpriced? They have four wheels, an engine, lights, transmission, a steering wheel..etc. I was just thinking, that if you are able to buy a car for $60,000 vs a honda civic which is around $19,500. Why can't macs be more expensive?

I understand your arguement, although you're not following it through with anything. And I hear a lot of people complaining about the price of cars.
Mac's should cost more than PC's, they're incredibly good quality products. Remember that 1 thing people say...
Quality Over Quantity.
I think people just buy what they want regardless of the price. I've got a PC - It does everything i want it to do so i don't choose to pay lots of money for a mac. Same with the iPhone- I've got a mobile phone that's 7 years old and it still works - it does everything i want a mobile phone to do so why would i pay £500 for an iPhone. I think SOME people buy macs and iphones for the aesthetics. You only have to look at the billions of unboxings people post on youtube- You never see people with PC's and nokia phones do unboxings do you?
I bought a Macbook in 2008, 3 months after i got it the battery went bad, apple didnt replace it for 6 months, hard drive with bad right after that and apple didnt replace it till this year, this month my super drive has gone bad. In 2 years my 1000 dollar macbook has became a junker. If I only had spent 500 on it, I could of accepted that( for the fact that I could of gotten a dell for 500 then) but I spent double compared to the other laptops for a laptop that fell apart. IMO way overpriced my dell 1525($600) with OSX has been running great since summer, and is still strong and going
Problem is you can't really compare a PC and a Mac to a BMW and a Honda ... BMW have so many more features not to mention the fact of speed , style , luxury that you get with a bmw appose to a Honda.
If I'm honest...a lot of the "Mac Show-off" is infact true , some people (Not everybody I might add) buy mac's to show off how much they paid for a products or what products they have when in reality they aren't interested in the product as much as they say or would want people to believe. Now this isn't true of everybody like i said and i would never paint all mac users with the same brush because that's wrong but i bet at least 90% of you know somebody that went a purchased a mac weather it be a notebook or an iMac for example but they don't really know a lot about what they have brought and why they brought it apart from the fact that it looks nice and has an apple logo...but do you really want to pay £1500+ on something that looks nice and has a branded logo if it doesn't work for you??
I have recently brought my first mac and if I'm honest...yeah it is impressive with some of the cool features that it has but i have found it a lot harder to navigate and pull up simple things, I'll admit that it partly down to the fact i haven't used it all that long but i don't think i will be throwing out my pc's and swapping my business computers over to mac's just yet.
On a price point though , it would prove very tempting if apple brought their prices down to encourage new mac users to give them ago over a pc , £1500 ($3000ish) is a lot of money to spend to try something out...
Question really is , without successes like the iPhone & iPods do you think apple would be as popular now? the iPhone is incredible the best smart phone on the market today in my opinion and same goes for the iPod ... couldn't go the gym without it and apple should be very proud in what they have done...but without those ranges still think apple wouldn't be in the position they are now.
I never thought of it like that. Nice!
@Cknapp151 Apple are a lot better at customer service. Most of the time they'll fix it within a week or a month or so, either your local Apple store isn't very good or they had to look at it and decide whether it was a bad component or a bad owner. I don't like to point the finger but hearing that you battery, hard drive and optical drive all broke in about a year it sounds like you mistreated it.
If you didn't I apologise.
