International iPad Delay

Well it's offical. The iPad is delayed by one month for international customers. I was okay with this until I read the reason

"Faced with this surprisingly strong US demand, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the international launch of iPad by one month, until the end of May."

Basically international customers have to wait so that US customers don't? If I'm being honest this is just another slap in the face for us outside of the US. After thinking about this for a while I have decided that I will not be getting an iPad anymore. Apple isn't as big internationally as they are in the US and this is basically the reason why. We pay much more and wait a lot longer and receive the same products. Apple simply says "It's the price of doing business over there." A company the size of Apple shouldn't be using excuses like this but actually sorting out the problem.

Now of course diehard Apple fans and people in the US are more than likely going to find it hard to relate to this post, or will actually make the feelings known in a comment. Before anybody does, ask yourself the question "If this was the other way around, how would I feel?"

Although I completely agree with your disappointment over the new international release for iPad, I have to say that Apple Inc. is an American company, and their first and foremost responsibility should be to serve the American consumer. It would not be fair for the American consumers to have a shortage of product so the international market can get their hands on the new tech. And lastly, a new release date definitely does not justify your anger and decision to NOT buy an iPad, if you wanted one at all you would buy it no matter the release date.

It is understandable that a company would put the majority of its effort into its own country. I understand why you are upset, but Apple truly did not expect this much demand. If you had a company and you were short on product would you service your own country first or others?

I live in the UK, I'm still getting an iPad..... but i'm just a little bit disappointed that I have to wait another 1 and a half months just because America needs them first :/ 500,000 Americans have them, and have Apple retail stores to play on, compared to ZERO owners anywhere else (besides importers), I just think the rest of the world should get a shot at buying one next...rather than America :( - The price best be right in the UK now they make us wait!

Are you kidding me? We'll have to wait, and then we'll have to pay more than the yanks... it's the way of the world. Pretty pointless expecting anything else.

I'm very angry over the release date change personally. I've been anticipating the ipad for weeks & 6 more weeks of waiting does not make me a happy camper. I didn't think there was going to be a problem especially since the Ipad didn't even sell out on the first day.

If there was an alternative I'd take it but unfortunately nothing like the Ipad currently exists. Living outside the US doesn't make people second class citizens.

I live in America, but I can't afford it right now. So just like many of you I have to wait. Instead of doing the easy thing and getting angry at apple's prices or the economy, I am going to be patient and thankful for what I have.

@Tyler. My thoughts exactly. People can be really impatient sometimes. On the other hand, I can understand their excitement as well. I love my iPad. Everyone should just relax, it will come soon enough.

Hey.

Thanks for all the comment guys , I am in no way having a bash at apple for the sake of it just venting an opinion and anger. Yes apple is an american company but they are also an international company aswell.

It's not really being impaitent as i can understand things do happen which causes delays , just think on this occassion the delay isn't really the best move for apple for it's international customers.

If im honest i think it will be the price that does it for me , i dont know if i want an iPad that bad that im willing to pay alot extra on what americans have to pay & the fact that they dont actually ship from the US is a little confusing on why we are "expected" to pay more (i say expected because of course we dont know the final price yet)

Surely Apple just like every other company in the world when launching a new product conduct market research to gain an understanding of how big the market for their new product will be. It's not like Steve Jobs just decides one day he wants to make an iPad and then decides he'll make 500,000 to start with and 'see how it goes'

This then leads you to believe that it is probably some sort of marketing tactic to increase product awareness. Then they can sell more in the first day and have a nice big number fall down on their next keynote. Maybe I'm cynical but it cant imagine Apple would make a basic error such as not making enough.

Well, I could wait, or just go half a hour across the border and get it in the USA for $50 bucks less and a month earlier. But I actually am really mad because they could just not give stores iPads until they need them, but until the release, I'll just buy one across the border

Its a bad move by Apple to admit the reason for the delay is due to satisfying the US demand. I understand the company wanting fulfil orders on home soil first, but customers in the US had a chance to pre-order the iPad, I feel that the same opportunity should have been given to international customers too. People who didn’t pre-order should be made to wait the extra month. Apple is becoming big name in UK despite high costs of hardware, people are prepared to pay for quality but good service is priceless.
