AirPort Express Base Station Review

I have had the Apple AirPort Express for just over one week and already I am amazed at how much capability this small device has. I live in a small 7-floor house that is made almost completely out of thick concrete walls; that can be a problem when the computer is on the second floor and your room is on the 6th floor. I mainly use my iPod and computer down in my room and I completely rely on wireless Internet, but I wasn’t getting great connection with my old D-Link wireless modem. I did some research and decided on the Apple AirPort Express.

This tiny device comes with 802.11n wireless networking capabilities, which is great for my laptop, and I get full bars constantly through four concrete walls. I also hover between two and three bars on my iPod touch. It comes with AirTunes, which is exclusive to the Express and offers amazingly high quality audio over long distances. It also comes with compatibility for wireless printers, but unfortunately my printer is not compatible. It does have its up sides, but also it ultimately has its down sides, which are minor at best. The only bad thing I can think of is, it will only extend the network of an Apple Base Station. It gets quite hot and it only has one Ethernet socket.

Overall I would give this product a 9.75 for amazing performance, great functionality, price and compactness. Plus it glows green and LEDs are always a good thing.

Rating: 9.75

By the way I don't live in a 7 story house because im rich the house is just built on the side of a cliff so each level is very small so that it doesn't just fall down the hill under its own unsupported weight.

"The only bad thing I can think of is, it will only extend the network of an Apple Base Station." This is not true, it can be its own wireless router, it is not just an extender.

Yes I know - all I was saying was that it will only extend an APPLE AirPort Base Station and not a D-link or others.
