White MacBook Review
Having owned a MacBook from mid-June 2009, I thought I should do a review because, for a 13" notebook, it has been doing incredibly well; even if it has been put through its paces.
It's the early 2009 model and it has a 2.13 GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of DDR2 memory and the standard NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics card. Although it has a lower specification than many other Apple notebooks, it still handles iMovie and other intensive programmes reasonably well.
A few weeks ago Apple quietly upgraded the white MacBook. It now has a 2.4 GHz processor and a significantly faster graphics card in the form of the NVIDIA GeForce 320M. The rest of the specifications are still the same, including the polycarbonate unibody enclosure that was added to the MacBook range in later 2009. An interesting feature of the new MacBook that wasn't seen in previous models is the audio in (external microphone) and audio out (headphones) that used the same socket. Although it saves space and perhaps enables a larger battery to be put in, it means that the user is unable to, for example, record a voiceover in iMovie with an external microphone while listening back to the original audio on headphones. However, this is only a small sacrifice if it means that Apple's engineers can boost the battery life up to 10 hours.
There we have it; a brief review of my MacBook, as well as my thoughts on the new one.
