MoD Unveils Taranis

The MoD have recently unveiled their prototype for the new aircraft, Taranis. The new aircraft is set to take flight in the early months of 2011 according to the MoD. What makes this aircraft so unique is the fact that it is not flown by a pilot, but instead controlled on the ground by a team of trained specialists. Think of it as an RC plane enthusiast's holy grail.

It is predicted that this aircraft will change military aviation greatly in the near future, as well as assisting our nations in the war on terror. But is this the only purpose intended for this revolutionary aircraft?
