Is 3D going too far?

I was thinking the other day, is the whole 3D thing going too far? What got me started on this was browsing Engadget and seeing that Panasonic is going to be releasing a consumer 3D camera. In every preview at the movies I see “coming soon in 3D." To me it is actually getting annoying. To be honest, I don’t care to go see 3D movies. I saw Avatar in 2D, no big deal. The whole glasses thing to me is annoying, even if it's not a huge problem. Everything is 3D now: cameras, TVs, movies, video games, and even sports. Is it just me or is 3D going a little too far?

I also think 3D is kind of getting out of hand. But I don't think Panasonic making a consumer 3D camera is wrong, it finally gives people with a smaller budget to have a chance to shoot video in 3D. I think as long as 3D stays in movie theaters, I'm okay with it. I don't see the point in 3D gaming and 3D TVs.

Actually, I think they are bringing this technology to you since it is the future of technology, they eventually want to take out the TV as a hardware & be able to see the images in a 3D Holographic Environment for a much better feel of reality towards the movie. I personally can't wait for them to start creating a HOLODECK like those in star trek & for us to be able to interact with the story and what we are watching...

That would be an amazing era of technology.

I agree. It's now become a "check box feature" meaning that all manufacturers are going to have at least one 3D product in their line. I think it should stay in movies where it belongs; and even then it's only suited to certain films.
