THE IMPORTANCE OF DESIGN

Many people overlook the importance of a websites design and layout, but you simply can’t have a successful site without a well thought-out design and layout. Take Google for example...Many people would say “What Design???” but Google’s simple design is one of the main reasons of its massive success. An over complicated and designed website can be a major turn-off for a user, remember not everybody spends as long on the internet as you probably do.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT DESIGNER

Giving a website or an online shop “E-commerce” a suitable design is critical and a very hard job to do...That’s why people like me have a job...Working with a client on their personal or company image is such a delicate task to do for one reason and one reason alone, make one mistake can cost them all their online presence. I have spoken to companies in the past that have told me it’s not their job to ensure the user likes the websites design! One company that comes to mind was an Indian restaurant, I simply responded by saying would you serve your tasty food on a dirty plate? The owner’s response naturally was NO!...I quickly followed by saying well that is what you’re doing with your website. It doesn’t matter if you have the best content in the world if the design is so off-putting/complicated that the end user can’t stand to be on the site to read it.

A lot of company’s main issue with hiring a web designer is of course “Cost”, but the fact is that the design of your website/shop is an investment in your company...and if the right designer has been hired then the investment should pay off. It’s easy to say that it’s an investment I know that but let’s try and look at it a different way...

Take a house for example, You buy a house > Make some structural changes and give the whole place a paint job > Then sell for a higher amount than you paid, the same principle works with a website...You spend X amount setting up the site and then one day you can sell that site for more than you put in “While running to the bank laughing!”

KEEPING ON FOCUS
Yes a simple tip that is worth its weight in gold, always always keep your websites design on focus. Know if you don’t know what I mean by this then no need to worry I have a simple way of explaining it for you...Imagine your taking a picture of a bird but you haven’t set up the camera correctly for it to capture the birds beauty, as a result when you press the capture button you get a picture that looks half like you wanted but the other half is blurred...you understand a little better now?? Again it works the same with a website...take your eye of the balls for a seconds and the result can appear blurred.
