iMovie for iPhone

Apple has laid down some great foundations for this app, with room for some great software updates.

Having now done some video editing on Apple's iMovie for iPhone app, I am very happy with the user interface and the overall ease of use while editing. There are some really great features in the app and it's amazing that we can now shoot and edit entire movies while on the go.

Check out this video for a great movie that was shot and edited entirely on the iPhone.

However, there is room for some vast improvements with this app. I would love to see some more controls when it comes to the audio. There needs to be a way of adding more than one audio track. Some control over the tracks volume and video volume would be great. Maybe some fade in and fade out controls or the ability to add a voiceover.

When you add titles to your movie, the title stays on for the entire clip (you can't fade out the title mid-clip).

And, I would love some more transitions and movie effects, but I'm not too bothered about these things at the moment. I think the first update should be dedicated to bringing more power and features to the app.

But overall, I'm very pleased with the app. Its well worth its price and its awesome to edit your movies on the go. I like it that this app is specific for the iPhone because this is the device you carry everywhere and shoot your video on. Although the iPad could support an amazing application with its much larger UI, I think its important to focus on the iPhone platform which is still the everyday mobile device for shooting video
