Verizon iPhone is Happening!

I know what you all are thinking. Oh no, not another Verizon iPhone rumor! I thought TekSocial was the last place on earth without these rumors bombarding it. Well, sorry, but I really could not resist.

Now in case you have been living under a rock for the last week ,the 2011 International CES is taking place as we speak in Las Vegas, NV. All the latest and greatest new gadgets have been making their way out into daylight. CEO Ivan Seidenberg and the other juggernauts from Verizon made the opening keynote on Thursday introducing a whopping 10 new 4G LTE smartphones and tablets for their upcoming network. Now that's all fine and dandy, but I just felt kind of empty inside when the keynote concluded. Why you ask? There was not a single mention of the iPhone or anything at all Apple related.

As of Friday, January 7th, 2011 it appears the wait may finally be over, as Verizon sent these bad boys out to the elite of the tech media.

Just two days after the conclusion of CES Verizon has there own shindig planned for Tuesday January 11th, 2011 at 11:00 AM. What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you see this? Another interesting factoid worth noting is that Gizmodo the infamous revealer of the iPhone 4 earlier last year did not receive an invite.

Here's what's key: We're great friends with Verizon. (Hi guys!) We've worked with them for years, and we've been to like every event they've had over the last three years. We haven't gotten an invite. Which is weird. And Jim Dalrymple, who received an invite, only writes about Apple and doesn't cover Verizon directly. We've reached out to Verizon to see why, exactly, we weren't invited, but we've gotten no comment yet. (Update: Verizon's official response is a big ol' no comment.)

Everything just seems to add up. Do you think the iPhone is finally going to land on Verizon? Leave a comment. Let me know what you think.

White iPhone to be sold by Verizon first?

It's too bad Apple stayed exclusive with AT&T for so long. I was tired of waiting for the Verizon iPhone so now I'm locked into a 2yr contract with a Droid X that started in August. I would've been waiting in line at midnight if Apple could've gotten it out sooner, but now they'll have to wait 2 years for me to buy it. Until then, I'll be perfectly content with my Droid X because it's also an excellent smartphone.

The timing could not have worked out better for me. I'm eligible for an upgrade with Verizon on February 2nd!!

Verizon and Apple could agree on a promotion so if you have and upgrade date in 2011 they would allow you to upgrade. Probably not gonna happen since its so early in the year.

if not this year, it will happen eventually

"Everything just seems to add up." That's where you're absolutely correct. But I also think that statement counts for nothing. We say every year the rumors were a mistake last year, but this year all the evidence adds up. No. The evidence adds up EVERY year. But they ALSO amount to NOTHING. EVERY YEAR. I don't care whether Steve himself announces it this year, until it comes out, i see the possibility of a Verizon iPhone as 50/50 every year.
