The Future for MacBooks

Since the dawn of the personal computer, man has always wanted to be able to pack up and take his work station elsewhere. Decades later it has become a far less troublesome task to do so, with products like the iPad and MacBook we need to look at these products and think; "What's next?"

What is becoming more apparent is the aesthetics of these portable machines, thinner, lighter and yet more powerful. Components are becoming so much more compact so the manufacturors can make a sleaker machine but still keeping that great power!

Take the MacBook Pro for example, it is an absolute powerhouse but it lacks some of the aesthetically appealing features such as the overall apparel of the MacBook Air. Recently the MacBook Air was completely revamped with a new design and even better internals. With a "door-wedge" design and the feature of lightening fast flash memory, it was the perfect machine for the average person. It does however lack the functionality of an optical disk drive, this can be looked upon as a disadvantage to those who still buy CD's and DVD's. But what we have to understand is that these products are becoming obsolete, more and more people are switching to services such as iTunes to purchase their music and films. Take a look at OS X Lion, Apple released it onto their Mac App Store instead of releasing it onto a disc that you had to buy from a retail store or buy it online.

From what I can see, Apple will completely change the look of their MacBook Pro line to the design and features of the MacBook Air. If they can increase the size of flash storage, make the screen sizes bigger such as a 15" and 17" model it would appeal to a lot more people who need to do heavy work such as video editing on the go. And with rumors of a 15" ultra-slim MacBook Pro on the run, things are looking a lot better for this change.

Obviously a lot more things will change with the MacBooks. But I wanted to concentrate on the overall look of the machine and how it will hopefully lose the boxy look and go for the more sleak design like its younger brother, the MacBook Air. If there is anything you would like to see in the next MacBook, let me know in the comments!
