“Hi, I’m a Mac. And I’m a PC.” : Stereotypes of Users May be True

No matter what subject you are talking about, there are always going to be stereotypes for the people who oppose the side you are with. There are very strong sterotypes in the world of computers, especially with Mac vs. Windows users, but a recent survey has shown that some or most of the Mac users’ sterrotypes may actually be true.

An unscientific study by Hunch came to the conclusion that Mac users are usually young, more concerned about their looks, more likely to live in cities than people who side with PCs, and usually tend to be more liberal than PC users. After the survery was finished, they also came to the conclusion that Mac users tend to be more creative and bold with their opinions. Though, just like any other stereotype, this is not true for every user.

With 388,000 users of Hunch that replied to the survey, only twenty-five percent of the users said that they are Mac enthusiasts, while 52% replied that they are PC loyalists. With the information that Hunch collected, they then cross-examied the replies with answers to other questions to find the distinctions with PC and Mac loyalists.

The conclusion also found that Mac enthusasts are about 80% more likely to be vegetarians than the oppsing PC users. They also found that 54% of PC users have a college degree while 67% of Mac users have a college degree.

Mac users are more likely than PC users to be better at math and claim to be computer savvy. The study also found they're less likely to throw a party than a PC user is. PC entusiasts are more likely to enjoy white wine, USA Today, Hollywood films, and more casual clothing. Mac users usually go for red wine, designer clothes and hummus; instead of the tuna PC users prefer, and The New York Times.

While some of these statistics do seem fake, they are actually true from the survey. I have to admit, though -- when I start thinking into the subject, I would say that I go with most of the Mac enthusiast stereotypes, besides the wine of course, considering I am 15.  What are some of the stereotypes that you fall under? Are you more of a PC user or a Mac user?

I would say that I like hummus and tuna equally :P But I really use both platforms equally (Mac at home, PC at school). I feel it would be plausible that more Mac users have college degrees, mainly because of the higher price point.

Whilst I disagree with a lot of the statistics, the last one is spot on. if you swap the white wine for whisky then you've got me. I'm a PC btw but I'm considering switching to a Mac when I can afford it.
