OTA Updates for iOS 5?
It is now rumored that iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users will at last be able to ditch the infamous white cable. It is rumored that Apple will be releasing this next fall, meaning it would be incorporated into the eagerly awaited iOS 5. Just think about it; no searching under your desk for that lost syncing cable, which also means that Apple might get rid of it the charging cable all together if you have an alternative such as a battery case or a PowerMat.
This idea would be incredible, and would make ease of use with an Apple device a lot easier, easier than it already is.
The only problem with this is that the average update size for an update is about 650MB in size, that is huge, especially over cellular network. You would need crazy internet speed to update as fast as you can on the Mac/PC. Apple would have to dramatically change the size of their updates, or at least, change how they work (Maybe break it up into incremental updates).
Another problem is that backing up your data would be impossible without connecting to iTunes, so would need something on the actual device, such as, The Cloud. Devices such as the Apple TV allow this without iTunes, so should be easy.
Does idea of losing his cable sound good to you, or do you think its just too much hassle for the typical iOS user?
