Review: Otterbox Commuter Series for Galaxy S

I'm not a very clumsy person, but I am always extremely worried in case I drop my phone, iPad or iPod outside or inside. So for all you clumsy people among us, the Otterbox Commuter is the case for you!

Otterbox are well known for making insanely durable cases. You can drop your phone anywhere and there is a case made by Otterbox that will fully protect that. The Commuter series is mainly designed to protect the phone if it is dropped or something hits it. It defiantly isn't one of the most protective cases Otterbox offers but it serves its purpose.

The case comes in two parts. A black silicone case which has precise cut outs for each port and button on the device as well as being extremely slim so it doesn't add much bulk to the device. The second part is a hard plastic outer shell which snaps over the silicone case, this is what gives it the main protection. The outer shell feels as if it certainly will not snap which is always a plus as I have had many hard plastic shells on my devices that have snapped within a month of use. Otterbox also threw in a screen protector which is always a plus!

When using the phone I rarely had trouble with using any of the buttons. The only issues I came across where the volume and power/sleep buttons, because they are covered in thick silicone it required slightly more force than usual. The screen was as easy to operate as before and when calling someone the call quality was no different than before.

The drop tests I done where a huge success. I was extremely aware of the dangers but I went ahead with it. Dropping from heights of around 6-10 feet the phone was not damaged at all, I did not go any higher. The phones ports where completely covered when I took it out in the rain. And when throwing the phone across mud and gravel the phone sustained no damage, but the included screen protector got a little scratched up.

I would defiantly recommend this case to anyone who wants to protect their gadgets yet also keeping a stylish and slick look to their device. Check out MobileFun for a wide range on mobile phone covers!
