iBooks 2 with Interactive Textbooks

As you may know, Apple held a small event today that was strictly on the topic of education. So don't be flocking to Apples website expecting an iPad 3!

As predicted, Apple has announced textbooks for the iBooks Store. You can view the article where I give my opinions about textbooks in the iBooks Store here: Could Apple Change the Education Game?

However, these are not just any ordinary textbooks, these are multi-touch and interactive textbooks that are clearly absolutely amazing on an iPad. Apple is partnering with McGraw-Hill, Pearson, and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in the textbook business, with the three companies currently responsible for over 90% of textbook sales in the US. McGraw-Hill and Pearson are releasing a handful of introductory titles today, with more coming soon!

In my opinion this is going to change how students use their iOS devices for education purposes. Schools and Colleges will certainly benefit from this as the books are constantly being updated without the need to buy them again.

Books start at $14.99 which is a lot cheaper than the average textbook your school/college may buy and the author is always able to update their content without the need to print a new book, costing the student or school more money.

iBooks 2 is available via update on the App Store.
