Review : Zagg Invisible Shield for the iPhone 5

The Invisible Shield range is one of my favorite products of all time! I use one on my Galaxy S and it was the best thing I ever bought for it. So why get one? Let me explain…

Installation is not the same and your cheap screen protector, it’s much more than that. It involves really clean hands, a dust free area and clean phone.

Installation

Installation is pretty simple, really. The method I use is as follows..

  1. Prepare your workspace by laying a towel down, the package contents (all unpacked).
  2. Wipe your iPhone with the included micro fiber cloth and make sure it is dust and grease free.
  3. Go wash your hands, not once but twice.
  4. Once your hands are thoroughly dried, spray them with the included solution
  5. Slowly peel the screen protector off the plastic, starting at a corner and every few centimeters spray the solution on the sticky side.
  6. Once it’s fully off the plastic lay the protector sticky side up on your hand  and give it a final spray.
  7. Carefully lay it on the display and TAKE YOUR TIME lining it up with the home button and speaker. This can take a long time, just make sure it’s got enough liquid until you’re satisfied.
  8. Once you’re happy with positioning, spray some liquid on to the top of the Invisible Shield as this will help with using the squeegee.
  9. Take the supplied squeegee and work all the liquid out from between the glass and Invisible Shield. When the liquid is coming out, use tissues so it doesn’t get in any ports or buttons.
  10. Once all the liquid is out, leave your phone at least overnight and you will see any strange bubbles that were left will magically disappear over the next few days.

Final Thoughts

After you get over the initial installation it’s great for protection. As I said I love these and I’ll always recommend them. If it does get a scratch on it, it just repairs itself. It doesn’t cause any degrading of the quality of the display nor does it distort any sensors. It also comes with a lifetime guarantee, just send Zagg the damaged Invisible Shield back and they will send you out a brand new one.
