My Thoughts: OS X Mountain Lion

It's no secret that Apple has announced their latest OS, Mountain Lion. One of the biggest arguments going on in the tech world right now is whether or not Apple is going about their new desktop OS in the right way. Personally, I think Apple is right on track. My video explains why.

Since Mac OS X Lion, Apple has been taking cues from iOS, the company's mobile platform, and implementing them into the OS. The reason this is causing so much controversy is because some don't think that mobile features can make a better desktop experience. My rebuttal to this; explain Windows 8. Unlike Microsoft, Apple is not replacing OS X with iOS- they're simply implementing features of iOS to supplement the desktop experience. This doesn't limit the power of the desktop OS at all. In fact, you can continue to use OS X and never have to use any of the iOS-inspired features.

Besides the implemented iOS features, Apple has added a feature called Gatekeeper. This will allow users to specify what kinds of apps to run and which ones need permission. This will result in a safer experience without even knowing it's there.

Overall, I think Mountain Lion will be a welcome addition to the OS X family. People have dissed Lion and the iPhone 4S in the past, both of which have become top sellers at Apple. As long as Apple keeps the innovation high and the prices low, I think Mountain Lion will have the largest install base yet.

What do you guys think? Be sure to let me know on YouTube and Twitter.
