Review: PureGear DualTek Extreme Shock Case for iPhone 4/4S

Everyone is looking for a good case for their phone. There's many different types of cases, so it can be very hard to pick out a good case that fits the user. Some cases are meant for looks, while others are meant for durability, and so on. I don't think it's possible to recommend a case to everyone, but I think I can help by recommending a case that both looks great and offers a great deal of protection. The case I'm referring to is the DualTek Extreme Shock Case by PureGear. I would like to give a huge thanks to PureGear for sponsoring this case for review.

Out of the box, it's easy to tell that this case was built to be abused. The case is made out of two layers of very durable material. The case also sports little rubber shock pads on all four corners, as well as an ergonomic hand grip for ultimate comfort. The case fits both models of the iPhone 4, so there's no worries when it comes to the slightly moved vibration switch; the case fits both phones perfectly. It's also worth mentioning that the DualTek also comes in Droid Razr and Galaxy S II flavors.

In the few weeks that I used this case, I found that it offers a great deal of protection. When dropping the phone from normal distances, such as pocket height (which did happen once), the phone remained perfectly intact. As seen in the video, I also drop it from about two inches above the desk, which also didn't bother me at all. The case is also protects against scratches. Some scratches did show up on the black surface, but not all were noticeable unless in direct light. The case also comes with a screen shield to offer scratch protection for your phone's screen. The front of the case is also elevated above the surface of the screen, making your screen safer if dropped face down. The rubber bumpers on the corners absorb almost 100% of the shock if dropped on the corners of the case. All of these safety features combined makes for a very safe phone. After my time using the case, my iPhone 4S looked just like it did the day I slipped it into this case, despite a few low-to-moderate impact drops.

The only cons that come to mind would be the trouble I had removing the phone from this case, as well as the price. If you're the kind of person that likes to switch their cases day to day, this will be a problem for you. This case really grips your phone, making it a challenge to get your phone out of it. The price is also kind of steep at $39.99, but this can definitely be worth it if you're prone to dropping your phone.

Overall, I give this case a solid 4.5/5. This case offers a great deal of protection while looking and feeling great in the hands. What do you think of this case? Be sure to let me know on YouTube and Twitter.
