Left in the Dust: PowerPC
The PowerPC is a processor developed by Motorola, it once was the main driving force behind Apple's computers. However, that ended about 6 years ago when Apple went to Intel. One of the best decisions the company has ever made and without it, it's likely we wouldn't be as far as they are with the OSX operating system. PowerPC's are still the main driving force behind all 3 current generation gaming console
Like I said before, it was a great idea to drop use in the clearly inadequate PowerPC. But not ok for Apple to drop support in the CPU altogether. I, like many others are still rocking the iMac G5. And we are finding it impossible to find compatible software that runs on our outdated system. 90% of all Mac based software requires an Intel based mac to run. I wont entirely blame Apple, as other company's are just as guilty. I can't even get the latest version of Google Chrome on my system. How sad is that? The worst part is I recently had to replace the hard drive in my mac so I had to scavenger site after site to find compatible versions of current software to use for my Mac. The simple solution would be for me to simply get another Mac. But money doesn't grow on trees so it will take at least another year before I can consider such a purchase.
Dear Apple/Everyone else creating software for OSX, please consider those of us left in the dust still using 10.4, thanks.
