Apple Blasts Out Last Call Ahead of iWork Closure
Three weeks ago, Apple sent out a friendly remainder to iWork.com users that the documents on the iWork.com site will no longer be accessible after July 31st, 2012... one week from today.
In early July, Apple began recommending that users sign in to iWork.com before that time and download all their documents to a computer. "Moving forward," Apple said at that time, "you can use iCloud to store your documents and make them available across your computer and your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Learn more about iCloud."
Bright and early this morning, Apple sent out a "last call" email to this same base of iWork.com users. Unfortunately, if some were hoping for a deadline extension, it didn't come. Apple again today confirmed the fate that will befall iWork.com next Tuesday.
Since the iWork.com service launched in beta back in 2009, the iOS platform and other product and service offerings from Apple have growth immensely more sophisticated. And with iCloud now online, the writing was on the wall for iWork.com. And the closure, as planned, will take place as the month of July comes to an end.
