Mountain Lion Tips & Tricks

The first one is RSS readers. In Mountain Lion, RSS readers as basically sacrificed, without letting the users save them. You can get RSS reading back by going into finder, typing Command+Shift+G, and typing ~/Library/Mail/V2/RSS/ into the search field.

I also found an application that lets you tweak Mountain Lion to of the old silver UI for things like calendar and contacts. The app is called Mountain Tweaks, and you can get it by clicking here.

Now, when you first boot into Mountain Lion, you can see that your notification centre is only able to see your emails etc. If you want to tweet from there, it’s simple. All you have to do is go into system preferences – mail, contacts and calendars – and set up a twitter account. If you don’t want to tweet from there, and the button is getting on your nerves, just go in the notification centre part of system preferences, and get rid of sharing. However, you still get your DMs and @ replies in the notification bar.

The next tip is pretty handy if you want to use the notification centre quickly, without having to do the fancy multi touch things. Just go into the desktop and screensavers pane in System Preferences, go to the screensaver tab, and in the bottom right, click hot corners. In the top right selection box, click on notification centre. Now, when you drag your mouse over to the top right of the screen, the notification centre will pop out. When you wan’t it to go, hit your mouse in the same corner again.

So there are some great tips and tricks, I hope you use them wisely. If you have any more awesome tips, email me at christianjupson@gmail.com, or comment down below, and yours may get featured in the next article.
