5 Reasons to Save Information to Your SIM (Not Your Phone!)

If you lose, damage, or upgrade your smartphone, you could lose all of the information you have stored on it. One way to avoid this problem is to save your information to your SIM card instead. If you reuse your SIM card from your old phone, all of your information will automatically be on your new phone. There are many reasons why it's a wise choice to save your information to your SIM card instead of directly on your phone. Here are 5.

New Phone

If you were to need to buy a new phone because you damaged yours, or you simply want to upgrade to a better model, having your information stored to a SIM card instead of your phone will allow you to quickly transfer your information to your new phone. Simply remove the SIM card from your old phone and replace it with the current SIM card in your new one.

Store Numerous Amounts of Data

Although many smartphones can handle a great deal of information, SIM cards can hold an abundance of it. From your contacts to your schedule, your photos, and more, your SIM card can be a quick and easy to use all-in-one place to store the data you need to keep with you on a regular basis. If you have a lot of contacts, like or need to keep your voice mails or text messages, and store a large amount of files on your phone, a SIM card is a better place to keep all of the information than directly on the phone itself.

Change Devices

Smartphones are not the only device that can access your SIM card. SIM cards can also be used on tablets. Your tablet probably contains a lot more information than your phone does, and if anything happens to it, it would be very beneficial for you to simply be able to take your device's SIM card and replace it in a new tablet. Then, you'll already have all of your information ready to go. You can also transfer your SIM card amongst your various devices, including your phone and tablet.

Travel

If you travel overseas, your domestic phone activity can be kept local to your area simply by using a SIM card purchased from the area you're visiting. By inserting a local SIM card, you won't have to worry about international rates when calling numbers in the area you are visiting. The card can be deactivated to make calls back to your local area. This will prevent your phone from racking up international call charges and save you a great deal of money while you travel.

Location

Another great asset to the SIM card is its ability to track you. This application allows you to use GPS to find out where you are when you get lost looking for an address, find the location you're traveling to, and even track your child if they have a phone on them.

There are several reasons why a SIM card is a better place to store your data than directly on your phone. Even if you're comparing an Android vs iPhone, having a SIM card is a safe bet for either one.
