Yahoo! Weather for iPhone - Weather App with the Twist

There are a lot of weather apps out there, many of which are independent or third-party apps for the iPhone. While I am all up for supporting amateur developers and small businesses, there are some apps where it is more beneficial to go with the big guys. That is especially true of any program that works with weather forecasts.

Yahoo has what is probably the most beautiful, effective forecasting app on the market. Which is why Yahoo Weather is still the most popular option around.

How It Works

Rather than open as a separate app, this one overlays the entire screen. It first gives you a background shot of the city you are in (based on GPS), with the same weather conditions as currently in place, and a small bit of pertinent data. This includes the current temperature, the high and low or the day, and conditions such as cloudy, clear or thunderstorm.

Want more? Just swipe the screen and you will get a seven day forecast. Another swipe and you can tell wind and pressure, moon phase, time of sunrise and sunset, precipitation and more. There is even a radar screen for statewide conditions.
