Abobo's Big Adventure

The power of flash can be amazing at times. When you have the right mindset and a set goal you try to use the program you’re used to just to see how far you can stretch it. Abobo’s big adventure is a good example of the power of flash and what it can do for you. But this article isn’t about Flash. Oh no, this article is about one of the best fan made games made in flash. Abobo’s big adventure was made by Roger Barr and friends as a dedication/tribute to the golden era of the NES days. Today there are a lot of people doing NES game reviews or just looking back at the past to preserve their childhood. If those people were to play this game today, it would seem like a breath of fresh air and a blast to the past. If you have some free time I would highly recommend you play the game.

So what is the game about? Abobo’s son Aboboy was kidnapped by some people and its up to you to go rescue him. You will be going through several other NES game worlds with Abobo and his menacing rage ability to go find out who took your son and destroy them where they stand. This game is quite fun and will provide you with a good bit of gameplay time.  However, there is something very cool about this game you should be aware of. For each NES game world you go to the controls and gameplay will change. For example, one minute you could be kicking and punching your way through gang members in the double dragon, but then the next you could be shooting your way through aliens in the contra world.

In the game you will see many pop culture references ranging from movies, to other video games, even to some T.V shows. I grew up with a movie buff family so I was able to tell most of them apart from just comical humor, however there was only one I didn’t get which was the death blossom from the last star fighter. In all honesty I have yet to see that movie even after playing the game. Try to challenge yourself and see if you can find them all. Oh, speaking of finding them all, there are some Easter eggs you can find in the mix as well. I’ll give you a hint; one is in the Zelda level. All in all this is a fun game to give shot. The controls are smooth and very easy to get used to, music matches the gameplay style, and you will have a blast playing this game. If you want to give this game a shot follow the link below and stay entertained for hours.
