Tips For Creating A Perfect Home Office

Think about the form, function and style when designing a home office...

The home office, whether it is tucked into a kitchen corner or if it is a whole other room, it demands more than one function. Since this space calls for a lot of various activities, it is important to look at all the points when designing a home office.

Who will be primary user? What professional or domestic duties does it have to support?

Make a list of things, files and folders you will store, as well as the equipment you need there. With a prepared list, find the right space that is fit for your home office.

The location

If you have an unused room for your home office, then you are lucky. If not, make sure it is in a corner or against an empty wall. Make sure that the space is lit well enough and that there are enough sockets for your phone, printer, etc... You will also need a lot of shelves, and some other things, and try to find a space that is exposed to natural light.

Furniture and storing space

Measure your working area and sketch a plan that includes the working surface, storing objects, as well as the shelves and similar things. Build a working space by your style and taste, that is sooths your eye and that it fits into the existing environment.

Go for working tables that have drawers. Use old discarded tables if you must in your working space. Pick the chair that will fit into the design of your table, but pay attention, it must be comfortable. If you are going to spend hours in front of the computer, go for an ergonomic chair with wheels and an adjustable seat.

Extend your storage by your having your shelves vertically across the wall. Think about the functionality of some furniture pieces in your working area.

Decorate the home office with a purpose

Add energy to your home office by adding a plush carpet. Make your little collection stand out, decorate in vivid colors and interesting textures. Hang a little school board on which you can write. All these things can make the difference in your working area. Another important tip, let light in. A lot. Roman blinds would be a great choice for the windows and the desk area. Open them, and more light will give you more energy.

Before you buy a bunch of storing space items, make sure you understand the type of documents and office material you will be storing and using daily. Collect personal items and decide for an organizational plan that is most fitting to you, and then go shopping.

Don't forget to use your old pieces and give them a new chance an old tool box or jewelry box, cups, mugs and old vases, pens, scissors and other working supplies.

Use an old umbrella holder to store your sketches and projects. You can use an old bucket to keep your papers, cartridges, folders together...

All of these things, simple as they are, will make your home office a pleasure to be in.
