Three Things Not To Do While Line Marking

Line Marking

According to KVR Coatings, internal line marking looks like a simple task on the face of it, but it nonetheless has its challenges. More than anything, it is a precision job. When lines need to be perfectly straight (or perfectly-shaped as the case may be) and meet in exactly the right places, the slightest mistake can throw things off. For this reason, it's also a task that requires intense concentration in order to ensure that you keep things on-track and avoid potential pitfalls.

In order to avoid the possible mistakes and maintain a precise, high-quality job, there are a number of things you should avoid doing while carrying out internal line marking.

Admiring the Scenery

Drawing perfectly straight lines requires a keen eye and that eye must be fixed on the goal. Look where you are going and where the line is being laid. Look how well the marks line up with the course they are supposed to follow, and where that course is about to go so that you are fully prepared to keep following it just as accurately. No matter how interesting your surroundings or how long you have been staring at the lines you are laying down, don't let your eyes start roving around the scenery. If your gaze starts to wander to one side or another, your course and the line you are laying will naturally start to wander as well.

Listen to Music

Even professionals who pride themselves on their skill in this field have to admit that line marking is not the most entertaining or varied job to carry out. Laying down a straight or even curved line of paint is a few steps up on the fun scale from watching that paint dry, but it's hardly the stuff that hobbies are made of. For this reason, it can be tempting to stick some headphones on and listen to your favourite songs to keep yourself entertained. The problem is that, as discussed above, line marking is a job that requires a lot of concentration. Music is a distraction, and while highly experienced line markers may find it to be no big deal the default action should be to avoid it.

Rush

Line marking requires not just concentration but great care. Rushing it can be tempting for several reasons, especially if you are new to the task. The job looks fairly simple on the face of it, and going faster means you will be done quicker – often still getting paid the same amount – and will mean you have less time to start to find the task tedious. However, rushing also means you are more likely to go off course, and likely to wander further from where you are supposed to be before you manage to stop. This can lead to you actually taking more time than if you had just gone a little slower and been more careful to get straight lines, sharp corners and precise, uniform curves.

Also remember that line markings on the road all have a meaning, make sure you know what they are and obay then at all times to keep safe.
