The World that Forgot About BlackBerry

In the midst of the new tablet rush, I completely forgot about RIM and when I came home today to see that they had released a tablet, I was stunned. Let me just start off by saying that I am completely blown away by the Blackberry Playbook. When I read the specs, I found out that this thing was a monster. A tablet packing a dual-core processor? Jeez. Two HD cameras, HDMI out, and much more. I think RIM made the right choice by waiting to enter the tablet market, because they just took features everyone wanted in the iPad, and put it in their product. And that new Blackberry Tablet OS, it looks great.

For people like me who don't want the size of the iPad, but also do not want a horrible Android tablet, this product is going to be a huge hit. I personally decided that if it is affordable for me, I will purchase one. I hope RIM releases more hands-on videos with the Playbook soon, and that when the SDK comes out in a couple weeks, developers flood in and create some high-quality applications that will be ready come launch in early 2011. So do you think that this could be an iPad killer? I personally do not think it will "kill" the iPad, but it will add some good competition in the tablet market. Let me know what you think.

RichardSolo 1800 for iPhone/BlackBerry

Direct link: http://bit.ly/1800RL

One of the biggest problems I run into when traveling is the battery life of my phones and music players. The Richard Solo 1800 backup battery is the solution to this. With 1800 mAh, it can charge your iPhone, iPod, or BlackBerry up to 3 times! It's small size weight allow the RS 1800 to fit in your pocket or backpack.

Hosting a mini-USB out on the top of the device, you can virtually connect the RS 1800 to any phone or MP3 player. You can purchase a kit with an included iPhone/iPod cable or BlackBerry micro-USB cable, depending on your needs.

Another great feature that sets this battery apart would have to be the included utilities. On the bottom of the device, you can find an LED and laser. Both can be controlled using the dedicated buttons above. This is a great feature for emergencies.

Retailing at a low price of $69.95 on http://richardsolo.com, this device is a must-have if you find yourself needing a charge when you are on-the-go! For more information, please visit http://www.richardsolo.com

Tek Nation Ep 4: Android Madness

Join Alex (ace4vikings) as he presents you with episode 4 of Tek Nation. We're 4 episodes in already! It's crazy and I appreciate all of the support and exposure it has gained. I hope it continues. This week's episode is not in full screen, I was messing around in screenflow and it's a long story. But I hope you still like the episode. Enough rambling. My YouTube channel.

Today's topics are the Motorola Droid 2, the Blackberry Torch, the jailbreakme.com jailbreak for i OS 4, and Blu-Rays are coming to a Redbox kiosk near you.

The Motorola Droid has an amazing keyboard. It's a huge improvement over the first Droid. The device also features a 3.7 WVGA multi touch display. Verizon is charging $199 on a 2 year contract.

The Blackberry Torch was announced on August 11, 2010. I have to say, RIM did an amazing job with this phone. Blackberry OS 6 is great. I wouldn't say it's as great as Apple's i OS platform but it's up there. The web browser is much improved and the operating system specializes in social media. The form factor for the phone is also very nice and the keyboard looks awesome.

Jailbreakme.com is a website that has a very simple concept. To let users jailbreak their device without downloading potentially dangerous software onto you're computer. So, all you have to do is go to jailbreakme.com and swipe to jailbreak. Please note you must have an iPod touch 2nd generation or iPhone 3G (or later) running iOS 4 to jailbreak you're device.

Redbox is a very awesome DVD rental service. It's convenient, it's cheap, and overall a very great experience. Well, you may have noticed they don't have Blu-Ray discs available for rental. Redbox has made an announcement that BLu-Ray discs will be coming to a kiosk near you soon for only $1.50 per night. Standard DVDs will still be $1.00 per night.

Tek Nation Ep 3: New Amazon Kindles

Today I have another episode of Tek Nation. You're probably wondering if I will do any other kinds of videos. The answer is yes. I will not tell you which videos are coming up because that'd defeat the purpose of this post. In today's episode we talked about the new Amazon Kindles, the rumored Black Pad by RIM, and more. I hope you all enjoy the video. If you have any feedback please leave some comments about how I can improve the show for everyone. This episode and others are always available to watch on my YouTube Channel.

BlackBerry Torch Announced

Today, RIM held an event in New York City to announce their newest smartphone, the BlackBerry Torch. We've heard rumors and seen leaked shots of this phone, and we finally get its specs today. First, the phone will be available on AT&T for $200 with a 2yr. contract, which is inline with most of their other smartphones. The phone itself is a slider phone, a first for RIM, with a 3.2" touchscreen (We'll have to see if it has the same touchscreen as the Storm line. The phone has the same trademark BB keyboard that we know and love. It has your typical BB buttons, including the new optical trackpad, in favor of the older trackball. The Torch has a 5-megapixel camera, finally moving away from RIM's 3.2 megapixel obsession, with a flash. The phone is running the newest version of BlackBerry's OS, OS 6, with WiFi and Quadband 3G, which will work internationally as well as here in the states. The Torch has 512MB of RAM, a nice feature, considering most of RIM's other phones have 256. The phone ships with 4GB of internal storage, and a 4GB microSD card. The Torch has a new feature called Media Sync, which lets your wirelessly sync your phone to your computer over WiFi, something us iPhone owners have been wanting for a while.

The phone will be available through AT&T starting in December for $199 with a 2yr. contracts, and if you don't already have an account with AT&T, you'll only have the option of 250MB of data, or 2GB. I hope you've enjoyed my rundown of all the new and exciting features in the new BlackBerry Torch.
