iPhone 5 vs iPhone 4S - Shutdown & Bootup

In this video, I compare the iPhone 5 to the iPhone 4S in terms of shutdown and bootup speeds. The iPhone 5 is, not surprisingly, faster in both of these tests, but not tremendously.

Samsung Galaxy S3's battery goes BOOOOOOOM!

(Sorry, I'm a little over acting at the title)

Everyone knows that Samsung's copying Apple's ideas and such for those people who can't afford or just hates Apple's amazing gadgets for no reason. You know how many people expect new stuff on new gadgets right especially geeks? So let's get to the point. Here's the story..

Meanwhile in Ireland.. some consumer's phone exploded at its butt part. Unfortunately for Samsung, the overwhelmingly positive reception afforded to the S3 may be in danger or souring somewhat. after that being said, the dude from Ireland wrote among other comments that it might not be the fault of the phone itself, instead, he pointed out that maybe it was the combination of his car mount and his car’s heating system.

Also, a South Korean student reported that his S3's battery exploded while in his pocket. Samsung responded by suggesting that the battery much have been exposed to massive external force to trigger the failure. So far, I believe no one was harmed. But still, this shouldn't be ignored.

HTC One S Unboxing & Boot Up

This is my full unboxing and first impressions of the HTC One S, which is one of three brand new HTC smartphones in the 'One' line. Originally debuted in April, I've finally got my hands on a review unit. Huge thanks to HTC and ParadigmPR for making this possible.

I'll be using this phone for the next couple of weeks and putting it to the absolute test. I've actually already been using it as my primary phone for the past few days and I am blown away by the speeds, and capabilities. I'll go into further detail in the review, but this may be an iPhone killer in my mind.

This phone has been provided as a review unit, on the Virgin Mobile network in Ontario, Canada.

Let me know what you think in the comments down below!

Carriers Concerned Over 3G Usage and Capacity

As more and more people buy smartphones, the cost of data plans continues to rise. Carriers are worried about the usage reaching their capacity. While they could raise prices further, this could cause customers to sign on with one of the competing companies instead.

We have already seen many AT&T and Verizon stop offering unlimited data plans, and customer’s current unlimited data plans are being throttled when, “they reach the top 5% of data usage”. This, however, has proved to not be quite true, as customers reported being throttled at just over 2gb of usage, while they pay more than the 3gb limited data plan.

This video displays the effects of a throttled iPhone over an unthrottled iPhone. There is a massive difference in data speeds, essentially making the throttled iPhone unusable. In the video, AppAdvice performs a series of tests involving the Google Maps app as well as using the Speedtest app to find the exact data speeds on the throttled vs unthrottled connection. As you can see, the effects of throttling are immense.

The text message received when AT&T is about to throttle your iPhone

Recently, AT&T lost a lawsuit in a small-claims court regarding the throttling of phones. They had to pay the plantiff $850 as compensation. This leads to the possibility of more throttled users to follow suit, especially the ones that have been throttled at as low as 2gb.
