My History of Website Solutions

I first started out on the internet back in 2007. As I learned more about the internet and decided to share my knowledge about computers, I opened up a website, jonnyscomputershow.co.nr. Of course, I didn't know about domains and hosting packages back then, so I decided to go with a free domain and a web host, which I found on the net and of course it was free. This website was run on a static html page, which displayed my live stream and WyldRyde chatroom.

As I become more a part of the net, I opened JonnyisGeek.com, which is still owned by me to this day, in 2008. At first, I run it on the not so popular now Freewebs platform for around 6 months until December 2008. On December 21, I then purchased a hosting package with my domain registrar, GoDaddy. It was cheap at just over £3 per month. I hosted my website with GoDaddy for quite sometime, until I switched around many webhosts with similar content management systems (CMS). These all included Joomla, Wordpress, Drupal and the list goes on. I stuck with Wordpress, as it was easy to use, themes were free and it had some really useful tools.

In July 2009, I found David (thecreativeone) who's blog I write on now, was using SquareSpace (and still is!). I decided to give SquareSpace a shot, and at that time, SquareSpace were launching their version 5 platform. I was amazed on how SquareSpace combined the static html service I was using a year ago with a CMS. I imported all of my Wordpress content into the new system and I designed my site within a few hours, as it took some getting used to. After a month had passed, I decided to switch back to Wordpress as my income didn't cover the SquareSpace costs and I couldn't cope with other things like going out and seeing friends. I felt bad about it, but it needed to be done.

In October 2009, I purchased the domain, JonnyRowntree.com, which is my blog and will always be my domain. I used Wordpress for about 4 months on Phirefast and GoDaddy hosting packages before again, switching to SquareSpace as I could afford it again, seeing as I had enough cash to pay for it. I used David's coupon code (thecreativeone) to save 10% and I'm still setting up my site, but it's done for the most part.

I have no idea how I remembered all of the switches and times, but I most submit 2 important points to this post.

1. Purchase your domain and select a web host. SquareSpace is the best, since it is very reliable.

2. Stick to that webhost for good.

How to Find Blogging Ideas

Hello all! If you are reading this you are obviously wanting to be a blogger? Well if you don't want to be a blogger then I think you clicked the wrong blog or are reading the wrong one, but the likeliness of that happening was probably slim to none right?

Let's Get Down to The Point.

Well anyways, to get back on topic, I'm sure you are here to try to figure out blogging ideas. Well I am here to help you out with that. The main resource that I can come up with for you to gather up different ideas for blogging is one place and we all were born with it, your brain. Yes, I know that that you have brain cramps sometimes and you are capable of coming up with ideas but you just can't, It happens to all of us. If you are still having trouble and you can't figure anything out and you are still very interested in being a blogger then try getting ideas off other bloggers. See what they write about and try to develop something of your own.

Conclusion.

Thank you for reading this post. This is actually my first blog on Social Blog and I thank David Di Franco for giving me the opportunity to be able to do this and share ideas and facts with you all. If you will, please keep looking for different blogs from me because many will be coming soon. Thank You.

Stop Tweeting, Start "Woofing?"

Twitter isn't the new kid on the block anymore, now it has an arch nemesis that goes by the name of "Woofer."  Sexy, I know.  Woofer is another blogging client like Twitter, and there is no question as to whether Twitter was a factor in Woofer's immaculate conception.  If you go to Woofer's website, the interface looks almost exactly like Twitter's down to the ugly blue background, with the exception of a few things.  The mascot is a dog, and there is a minimum requirement of 1,400 characters per post.  Yes that's right, you are requred to write at least 1,400 characters.  In my opinion part of Twitter's appeal is the fact that it's a micro-blogging platform.  I just take a minute to type my thoughts, and I'm done.  Fourteen hundred characters seems more like a blog, and if that's what it's going for, what is the Woofer's appeal?  Developing better English apparently.  You are encouraged to "be eloquent, use adverbs, and don't ever abbreviate."  I can't say I'm against getting rid of the "wut r u doing" "nothin, im kool" conversations, but is this the future of blogging?  If I'm required to write at least 1,400 characters at any given moment, I hope not.

Thanks for reading,

Talina

LG Dare Review

Key features:

· 3 inch touch screen with tactile feedback

· 3.2 megapixel camera/camcorder

· V Cast music

· sync music from computer

· 3.5mm headphone jack (YESSS!)

· microSD port (up to 8GB)

· Bluetooth capabilities

· text/picture/video messaging

· mobile IM

· voice mail

· full HTML browsing with touch navigation

· media (download) center (games, ringtones, apps)

· AND MUCH MORE

Touch Screen

I have owned the Dare for about two months now and have had no problems with the touch screen. This was my first touch screen phone and was extremely easy to get used to. I’ll say, I’ve used iPhones and iPod Touches, and the apple touch screen is superior to pretty much any other device. However, LG definitely means business with the Dare. At first start-up the phone needs to be calibrated, but this is a one-time thing (that can be redone if you feel the need). After the initial calibration the touch screen works like a charm. There have been a few times when I have pressed and nothing has happened, but after locking and unlocking the phone it works fine. The scrolling isn’t as much of a natural “flick” as with the iPhone, but it works with some practice. I have found that although it takes some used to, the virtual QWERTY keyboard works fairly good too. Overall, the touch function, which is obviously the most prominent and important feature, is wonderful to work with.

Camera

Another remarkable feature of the LG Dare is the 3.2 megapixel camera. My, what LG does with 3.2 megapixels! I have used phones with 5.0 megapixel cameras and I am not exaggerating when I say that the Dare totally murders them. The Dare takes beautiful pictures and fairly good quality video. While no phone’s camera is as good as a stand-alone digital camera (yet), the LG Dare has in my opinion, one of the best cell phone cameras.

Music

I have never been one to use the music player on my cell phone. I have always been attached to my iPod. My iPod is however, in its final days. It’s pretty old, and I was considering getting a new one, but they do cost a lot. When I purchased the LG Dare I knew it had a music player but thought it would be crap. In short, I was wrong. While it in no way comes close to the iPod Touch or even iPod for that matter, it is a great little player itself. It has a similar view to that of Coverflow. Although it is pretty clearly a copy, it is a nice feature. One downside though is that this Coverflow-like view can only be accessed when a song is playing (or paused) and not just when browsing through your library. To make up for the lack of originality and functionality with the music player, you can easily have music playing in the background when doing simple tasks such as texting or editing contacts. But of course there are flaws with that too; when you use the camera or an app such as Mobile IM the music pauses. No product is made without flaws, but I do wish they would’ve fixed those problems.

Overview

Overall, I would say the LG Dare is a great phone. If you have Verizon and want a phone that compares to the iPhone, while it’s not a clone, the Dare is a great substitute. With a full touch screen, an amazing camera/camcorder, full HTML web browsing, a music player and even downloadable apps, LG has done it. I would definitely recommend checking out the LG Dare at your local Verizon Wireless dealer!
